Whether you have finished a big renovation or moved into a custom-built or pre-loved house, a Home Blessing Ceremony helps you symbolically lay a foundation for the wonderful experiences that you hope will unfold within its walls.
Working from interviews and in collaboration with you, I create a custom ceremony to honour what this new beginning represents to you. Candles bring light into the dark places, water cleanses, and sage or incense imparts freshness. It is meaningful to bless the threshold by having family members declare their wishes for all who pass over it. And kids love to say what they hope for in their own room!
Leave Taking Ceremonies
Leaving a home can be painful. It is an experience that calls out for exclusive time to say goodbye and not only to a physical space, but also to the chapters of your life that played out within its walls. This can be especially poignant if you have many special memories invested in your home. Perhaps you are a downsizing empty nester or an elder leaving your family home for assisted living.
I once did a Leave Taking Ceremony for a woman who had lived in her home for thirty-five years! Friends and family gathered, stories were told, tears were shed, and we concluded with two members of Vancouver’s Bach choir singing Patricia down the staircase while a boisterous procession followed behind her. Most important, the ceremony inspired her in the challenging days ahead.
You will receive a complimentary consultation when you call me at 604-992-4217. My fees for Home Blessings and Leave Taking Ceremonies begin at $700 plus GST. As always, this includes a personal interview in your home.
