And yet we have all been to a funeral service where the officiant read the deceased’s name from a fill-in-the-blank ceremony. What a shame. We leave feeling even worse, like something vitally important was missing. When people see Celebrant Michele celebrating marriages and births so joyfully, they forget that she works on “the death stuff” too. In fact, Michele’s primary motivator in becoming a Celebrant was to work with families in the raw times of their lives… by creating deeply meaningful Celebration of Life, Memorial or Funeral, Ash-Scattering, or Committal Ceremonies. Michele is a trained Palliative Care and Hospice volunteer, and she has mourned and experienced firsthand many deaths – friends, family, and strangers – some of which were tragic deaths including suicide. In many ways, being with death has transformed the way Michele lives her life.
